I have eighteen spare red rubber "support the WGA strike" bracelets. They're sold out from the place I ordered them from, probably because the guy was only selling them in clumps of 20. They're bright red, and they say "No Justice, No Scripts" on them ( Read more... )

Randomly mentioned the strike to my boss while at a work event on Friday and learned that not only is she aware of it, she's in favor of it. Not that I thought she wouldn't be, but somehow I think of this as a "nerd issue" that people in the "real world" aren't even aware of. ;)

The last time there was a writers' strike in 1988, it halted production on TV shows for twenty-two weeks and cost the industry $500 million. If things go that way currently, we're looking at TV shows not going back into production until March, which would mean no new episodes until about April, and the monetary loss adjusted for inflation would be ( Read more... )

I think I just assumed that most people involved in fandom (especially people who are also writers themselves, be it of fanfic or original work of whatever kind) were supportive of the WGA strike.
